Don't throw those glasses away yet!
Refractive Laser Surgery to correct nearsightedness is no guarantee that you will spend the rest of your life without wearing glasses. Farsighted vision is not corrected by this surgery. According to Dr. George O. Waring, an Ophthalmologist and spokesperson for the American Academy of Ophthalmology, "Refractive Surgery can effectively correct 90 percent of myopic (nearsighted) patients." Surgery flattens and reshapes the cornea.
