For the people of Buka and Mendi, clear vision and access to eye care will soon be a reality. The launch of two new Vision Centres is a milestone for the region and for PNG Eye Care, adding to its established centres in Port Moresby, Mount Hagan and Lae. The opening of the new Vision Centres is thanks to an initiative of PNG Eye Care and the International Centre for Eyecare Education (ICEE) with funding from the Australian Government's Avoidable Blindness Initiative

Five new Vision Centres open across provincial Cambodia in August, thanks to the International Centre for Eyecare Education (ICEE) partnerships with local organisations, and funding from the Australian Government Avoidable Blindness Initiative (ABI). The Vision Centres are opening in the provinces of Battambang, Kampot, Banteay Meanchey, Kampong Cham and Pursat.

Vision Centres are quickly becoming a sustainable and economic answer to the need for provision of eye care. Since the inception of the Vision Centre model, forged initially by the LV Prasad Eye Institute in India, hundreds are now servicing the escalating need in underserved communities worldwide. In an important new step, to help others involved in the cause meet the growing demand, this week ICEE is releasing a free online resource - Vision Centres: An Introduction.
