VACANCY: OPTOMETRIST: LUSAKA, ZAMBIA

1 YEAR CONTRACT WITH OPTION TO EXTEND

Optique Clinic is an independent practice in sunny Lusaka, Zambia. It is owned and run by a UK qualified optometrist, therefore run according to international standards. Supported with reception/sales staff & visiting Ophthalmologist.
Relaxed practice environment with attractive hours, low volume & focus on eye healthcare. The candidate will have plenty of time to complete tests since it is not a busy high-volume practice but more of a boutique clinic experience which is not in a mall therefore appointment based only. Predominantly expat clientele therefore the client only needs to be proficient in English language.

Very well equipped with Topcon equipment; slit lamp, OCT. Fundus photography, Pachymeter, Tonometer, Visual field analyzer.

Wide range of premium international brands of frames, lenses & contact lenses to dispense. In house lab for fittng.

REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS
BSc Optometrist with minimum 2 years’ experience
Competent with refraction skills
Competent pediatric eye examination
Efficient Slit lamp examination
Efficient Ocular tomography
Fundus photography
Visual field perimetry
Pachymetry
Ability to treat minor ocular conditions with range or drugs/treatment plan or refer to Ophthalmologist if needed.
Contact lens knowledge & fitting experience (mostly simple soft lenses)
Dispensing knowledge & experience
Basic lab knowledge which candidate can be trained on as well.
Simple frame adjustments
Bonus: vision therapy experience but not necessary
Good communication, explanation of condition & building of relationship with patient.
