A rapidly expanding ophthalmology company based in Cape Town is seeking a motivated and technically minded Product and Application Specialist to join its growing team. This role involves marketing specialised ophthalmic products to Ophthalmologists and providing in-depth, hands-on demonstrations of ophthalmic theatre equipment to Ophthalmic surgeons, including attending surgical procedures to support product use. Comprehensive training will be provided, including international training in Rome at the equipment supplier, as well as local training at the South African Head Office for the remainder of the product range. A qualification or prior experience within the ophthalmic industry will be a strong advantage.
The successful candidate will be responsible for sales activities within an assigned territory, with a specific focus on capital equipment sales and demonstrations.
Duties will include identifying and establishing new business opportunities, scheduling and planning appointments and meetings with targeted customers, and demonstrating, presenting, and selling medical devices and equipment to healthcare professionals such as surgeons, nurses, and theatre staff.
The role further requires managing stockholding within practices and hospitals, overseeing people management responsibilities, and ensuring the servicing and repair of equipment to maintain optimal performance and client satisfaction.
